Location: Remote (Candidate should be based in a location that overlaps with MENA / Gulf and UK time zones and should be available to travel up to 30%)

About the Role


Jusoor Economic Development & Impact Accelerator (JEDI Accelerator) is an impact investment accelerator started by Jusoor to support Syrian-led and founded startups from across MENA and the world with high potential for growth and scale.  Please note, this position will be hired by the entity managing the fund, and not by Jusoor. 


The JEDI Accelerator Director will work with the JEDI board to establish and manage the legal entity, gain and liaise with investors (both individual and institutional) for the fund, promote the fund to establish local and regional partnerships, and design and oversight of the startup acceleration program and managing the team. 


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage Investor Relations, fundraising, liaising, and reporting to both individual and institutional investors 

  • Maintain and expand a network of relevant relationships to include VCs, financial institutions, industry authorities/organizations, and others to efficiently identify and originate early-stage businesses to join the accelerator.

  • Develop, drive and implement the accelerator program

  • Establish effective project management and monitoring mechanisms and ensure timely delivery of the accelerator cycles

  • Periodically report the accelerator program’s progress to the Board  and accelerator stakeholders

  • Submit each accelerator program and cycle budget for review and approval by the Board 

  • Identify the business objectives and goals in coordination with the entrepreneurship committee, and ensure that they are well-executed

  • Report the status of the accelerator and startup companies to key stakeholders and ensure the reports are submitted on time

  • Building partnerships and strengthening engagement with local startup ecosystems in MENA

  • Promoting the fund’s programs activities and sourcing the best applications from top entrepreneurs

  • Establish relationships with peer organizations, government, and corporates, identifying partnership and sponsorship opportunities when appropriate

  • Conduct due diligence, negotiating and managing investment agreements with selected startups when required

  • Works closely with internal and external legal counsel to execute and finalize deal documents

  • Assists with oversight and management of portfolio investments and sits on the boards of portfolio companies

  • Help companies in executing growth strategies and fundraising

  • Work with the startup teams on structuring and perfecting their investor pitch and Demo Day presentation

  • Nominate startups and identify the follow-on funding and investment-matching opportunities in coordination with the entrepreneurship committee and investment team

  • Deepen and expand a subject matter expert network

  • Participate in relevant industry conferences and events/meetings

  • Build internal systems, processes, and frameworks that allow JEDI Fund to scale and build a foundation for long-term success. 


Required Skills and Experience

  • At least 8-10 years of experience in entrepreneurship, investment, and business development fields

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Arabic (Turkish is a plus).

  • BA in business/management studies or equivalent, MBA preferred

  • Outstanding financial modeling and analytic skills with a firm understanding of investment theory and financial markets

  • Technical know-how to structure and negotiate deal terms

  • Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • The ability to gather, learn and synthesize and effectively present or communicate (verbal/written) complex information

  • Leadership experience with high-growth startup companies that successfully raised post-seed equity round a plus

  • Engaged in the local & international startup community and its activities

  • Impact investment experience is a plus

  • Previous experience in the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, and Egypt
