A Trio of Engaging Workshops
Education is the key that unlocks the door to a world of opportunities. In our ongoing mission to enhance the educational experience and support the unique needs of every Syrian child, Jusoor's Refugee Education Program focuses on raising teachers' awareness of students' diverse learning needs. Through a series of three enriching workshops, we aim to provide educators with the tools they need to differentiate between learning difficulties and special needs, allowing them to create a more inclusive and supportive learning environment. Jusoor's Refugee Education program launched a series of insightful workshops for educators.
1. Understanding Learning Difficulties
The first workshop, led by Ms. Rana Sawaya on 2nd January 2023, introduced educators to the wide range of learning difficulties students may face, such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia. With a thoughtful approach, Ms. Sawaya emphasized the importance of not hastily labeling young children, as developmental delays might sometimes appear as disabilities.
2.Exploring Developmental Milestones
The second workshop, presented in Arabic by Ms. Rania Al Bobo on 7th March 2023, focused on the significant milestones and aptitudes essential to a child's development. This session covered various aspects of visual, auditory, and physical/environmental perception, helping teachers gain a deeper understanding of their students' unique developmental paths.
3. Supporting Students' Learning Needs
The final workshop in the series will be conducted by Ms. Rania Al Bobo on 1st May 2023. In this session, Ms. Al Bobo will continue to explore other crucial developmental milestones and provide educators with practical strategies to address students' difficulties or special needs.
Honoring Our Dedicated Educators: Teachers Day Celebration
To celebrate Teachers Day, we organized a workshop for all our educators, ensuring their attendance on this special occasion. After the workshop, we came together to enjoy a delicious meal and cake, prepared by the husband of one of our teachers, who is a chef. Over 55 people joined in the celebration, fostering a sense of togetherness and appreciation for our hardworking educators.
Jusoor's REP workshops and Teachers Day celebration embody the spirit of collaboration, dedication, and growth that underpins our commitment to education. As we continue to navigate the ever-changing world of learning, we remain steadfast in our pursuit of creating a brighter future for our students and educators alike.
We invite you to join us in this noble endeavor by donating to Jusoor, helping light the way for a better future for Syrian children. Together, we can make a difference.
