Scholarships for Syrian Youth

Only six percent of refugees globally are in higher education. Only five percent of Syrian refugee children are in high school. With millions of gifted Syrian women and men unable to attain a university degree or high school diploma, Jusoor’s Scholarship Program builds bridges between the potential of young Syrians and opportunities for further education.

Hardship Fund Banner

Jusoor launched its Hardship Fund Project in 2016 to provide gap funding to students enrolled in undergraduate and master programs at academic institutions outside of Syria who are at risk of dropping out because of financial need. To date, the program has supported 44 students who have been provided one-time financial assistance of up to $5,000, which the students can use toward university tuition and fees. The funds are awarded as a loan without interest, with an individual repayment plan developed for each student. Returned funds will support new students in the future.

Thanks to our Institutional Supporters and Partners

“Our journey was very similar to that of the Jusoor scholars. We see ourselves in them. Their success represents for us the hopes and aspirations of our people from Syria and the region as a whole. Like them, we endured war, displacement lack of travel documents and other travails. Their challenges and hardship were difficult to overcome, but hard work and support of good people and organizations have allowed them to succeed against all odds.”
