We are thrilled to announce that Jusoor has received generous support from Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair Education Fund to run our Future Skills. The project will be the first phase of the ‘Digital Futures: Upskilling Refugee and Marginalized Youth for Employment’ project run in partnership with CodeBrave and Concat.
The Future Skills project, now in its third year, is dedicated to equipping 140 refugee adolescents, aged 14-17 years, with essential 21st-century skills such as coding, robotics, critical thinking, and problem-solving, along with English language skills. Refugee adolescents are taught how to use block-based coding language, debug and troubleshoot coding issues, understand Microbit platform hardware components and sensors, exercise design thinking and prototyping on a basic level, and collaborate with others on group coding projects.
The project’s ultimate goal is to enhance employability, broaden career opportunities, and foster a brighter future for these young individuals and their communities.
Future Skills 3.0 will commence in September in our Jeb Jenine and Jurahiya Refugee Education Centers.
