On Sunday, November 10, 2024, we were extremely grateful to receive the Mother Teresa Memorial Award for Social Justice from The Harmony Foundation under the theme “Humanity in Action” during a ceremony in Mumbai, India. Our Executive Director, Khaled Abu Ajwa, attended the ceremony to receive the award on behalf of Jusoor.
In its 20th year, the award celebrates individuals and organizations worldwide who demonstrate selfless service, compassion, and dedication to helping others. The award recognizes Jusoor’s “transformational mission to maximize the potential of Syrian children and youth through the power of education,” adding that “Jusoor’s work in bridging the opportunity gap for Syrian children and youth affected by war and displacement at each developmental stage, through to their early careers, is commendable.”
“Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.” - Mother Teresa
Now, we are honored to join the list of notable recipients of the award, including Nobel Laureates, global organizations, and exceptional individuals such as H.H Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, H.H. The Dalai Lama, Ms. Narges Mohammadi, the International Committee of the Red Cross, UNHCR, SPARK, and the Danish Refugee Council, to name a few.
In his acceptance speech, Khaled Abu Ajwa says, “The Mother Teresa Memorial Award carries a powerful legacy of kindness and service, and we are proud to be part of that legacy. This award is a reminder of what humanity can achieve when we come together.”
We are deeply grateful that our work has been recognized globally by this award, and we would like to thank the Harmony Foundation for supporting the education of displaced young people in our region.
