The Chapter Ahead for Syria

December 8th marked a turning point in the history of our beloved Syria, a pivotal moment, full of hope, bringing us all together to rebuild and reimagine a brighter future for our people. This moment is not without its uncertainties, but it is full of potential - and we cannot wait to play a central role in our country's future. We believe in the resilience of the Syrian people and the importance of coming together in times of change.

Since establishing Jusoor more than 13 years ago, all our programs have been developed with the intention of contributing to the foundation of a thriving and successful civil society in Syria. And today, we have the chance to start planning to scale up our programs to where they are needed the most.

Education will play a profound role in shaping the future. For years, countless children and youth have faced displacement and disruptions to their learning, and addressing this gap is critical. Providing access to quality education that empowers young Syrians with the skills and knowledge they need to actively shape their future is critical. Equally important is providing training, skill development, and support for businesses and entrepreneurs - all of which will be essential to rebuilding Syria’s economy and creating sustainable livelihoods.

As we look ahead, we are also mindful of the importance of understanding the country’s evolving needs. In the months to come, we will focus on listening and learning to communities on the ground as well as the Syrian diaspora —working to identify areas where we can make the greatest impact. We also recognize the valuable role of the Syrian diaspora—a community with deep ties to the homeland and a wealth of expertise and experience.

At Jusoor, we remain steadfast in our commitment to Syria’s youth and communities, and we are excited to be part of this historical change. Together, we can help pave the way toward a future that reflects the strength and aspirations of all Syrians.
