Raheem Khadour

I am a pre-med student interested in pursuing a medical degree to be a heart surgeon. I am madly in love with medicine and surgery and the dream of being a heart surgeon has been with me for so many years. I come from a small town in Syria called Salamiyah. I lived my life between that city and Dubai city due to the conflict in Syria. I studied high school in a boarding school in India called UWC Mahindra, and that was the experience that truly changed my life. I am currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Human Ecology with a focus on pre-med and biomedical studies. Currently, I am interning at a local hospital near my college to shadow various departments and surgeries and gain experience in the medical field. I am also shadowing at the Cardiothoracic Surgery department at the Eastern Maine Medical Center where I am exposed to the cardiology field. Moreover, I am an undergraduate research fellow at the Jackson Laboratory with Rosenthal’s lab where I will be participating in a project to research heart failure.
