About the Scholarship

Jusoor’s Lebanon scholarships are open to Syrian students who:

  • Already reside in Lebanon
  • Are admitted to a university in Lebanon to begin your studies  in  the 2023-2024 academic year

Will study a bachelor’s degree in one of the following programs at in any field of Engineering only.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Be Syrian and already residing in Lebanon.
  • Demonstrate academic merit
  • Not already have a bachelor’s degree.
  • Require financial support to cover travel and/or personal expenses.
  • Show intent to contribute to the redevelopment of Syria
  • Have a strong record of leadership and community engagement, as demonstrated through volunteer and/or work experience
  • Be willing to remain engaged with Jusoor’s community.

Selection Criteria

  • Academic achievement
  • Personal achievement and leadership
  • Financial need
  • Interest in and commitment towards rebuilding Syria

Funds Coverage

This scholarship will cover partial tuition fees to be determined based on university of study.

How to Apply

You must apply to your university of interest and to the scholarship separately

To apply to the scholarship, kindly fill out this application by August 13th, 2023.

You must upload the following documents with your Jusoor application, without any exception:

  1. Copy of official ID (passport or national ID card)
  2. Academic Transcripts from your most recent year of study 
  3. Baccalaureate exam results (Lebanese or Syrian, etc)
  4. One recommendation letter from a teacher or professor in Arabic or English
  5. One recommendation letter from a volunteer, school club or volunteer supervisor Arabic or English
  6. CV 
  7. Acceptance letter from a university if you have already been accepted.

Incomplete applications WILL NOT be considered.

Successful candidates will be required to sign the Jusoor Scholar contract. The main points of the contract are outlined below, and selected scholars can request to read the contract in full before accepting the award. The awardee agrees:

  • To give Jusoor permission to use their name, photographs and biographies on Jusoor’s website, social media and in publications. 
  • To make efforts to attend online and in-person events when requested by Jusoor.
  • To submit a form provided by Jusoor each term to provide academic updates.
  • To agree that to the best of their ability, they will use the knowledge and skills gained through this scholarship to support the development of Syria.
  • To maintain good academic standing.
  • Not to serve as an official representative of any government and not to engage in activities of public nature that are likely to affect Jusoor negatively, while receiving funding from Jusoor.

How many awards will be given?  

At least 2  awards will be given.

When will I be notified of my status?

Candidates will be notified of the final outcome of their scholarship application by late September 2023.

Should I already have an acceptance to a university before applying to the scholarship?

No, but you must apply to your preferred university as soon as possible for admission. 

What documents are required for submission of my Jusoor application?

The following documents are required; there will be no exceptions made and any incomplete applications will be disregarded:

  1. Copy of official ID (passport or national ID card)
  2. Academic Transcripts from your most recent year of study 
  3. Lebanese or Syrian Baccalaureate exam results
  4. One recommendation letter from a teacher or professor in Arabic or English
  5. One recommendation letter from a volunteer, school club or volunteer supervisor Arabic or English
  6. CV 
  7. Acceptance letter from a university if you have already been accepted.

If awarded the scholarship, can the funding support my spouse and/or children?

Unfortunately not. The scholarship is intended to support only the scholar. Due to limited resources, Jusoor cannot provide any financial assistance for your family.

I learned my high school and/or undergraduate degree in Syria. Am I still eligible to apply? 

Yes, absolutely but you must be currently residing in Lebanon. 

I earned my  baccalaureate in Syria and am having trouble obtaining my documents as proof of attendance/graduation. Can Jusoor help?

Unfortunately not. Through experience in this matter, we have learned Jusoor cannot be of assistance. This issue must be resolved with your university and the Ministry of Education where applicable.

What is the interview process like?

Interviews are conducted by 1-2 Jusoor team members; questions that are asked revolve around themes such as academic and career goals, personal skills and intent to contribute to the redevelopment of Syria. Interviews usually last for about 30 minutes.
