Jusoor-MUBS Scholarships
About the Scholarship
Jusoor’s Lebanon scholarships are open to Syrian students who:
- Already reside in Lebanon
- Are admitted to the Modern University for Business & Science to begin your studies in the 2024-2025 academic year
Will study a bachelor’s degree in one of the following programs at MUBS:
- Accounting
- Banking and Finance
- Business Information Systems
- Computer Science
- Graphic Design
- Optometry and Vision Science
- Public Health
- Nursing
- Nutrition and Dietetics
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must:
- Be Syrian or Palestinian-Syrian holding a Syrian Travel Document
- Have a strong academic record
- Meet the admissions requirements of MUBS (including language requirements)
- Have a strong record of leadership and community engagement, as demonstrated through volunteer and/or work experience; demonstrate social consciousness
- Demonstrate willingness and intent to contribute to the redevelopment of Syria and impact the global Syrian community
- Have clear and realistic short and long-term career goals
- Demonstrate knowledge and interest in their selected program of study
- Not already have a bachelor’s degree
- Be willing to engage with the Jusoor and university communities
- Be living in Lebanon at the time of selection and must have lived in Syria continuously prior to the start of the conflict.
- Demonstrate financial need
- Have a motivated, self starter attitude and strength of character
Candidates are only allowed to apply to one Jusoor scholarship. If you apply to a second Jusoor scholarship, only your first application will be considered.
If selected for the scholarship, the successful candidates will be required to sign the Jusoor Scholar contract. The main points of the contract are outlined below, and selected scholars can request to read the contract in full before accepting the award. The awardee agrees:
- To give Jusoor permission to use their name, photographs and biographies on Jusoor’s website, social media and in publications.
- To make efforts to attend online and in-person events when requested by Jusoor.
- To submit a form provided by Jusoor each term to provide academic updates.
- To agree that to the best of their ability, they will use the knowledge and skills gained through this scholarship to support the development of Syria.
- To maintain good academic standing.
- Not to serve as an official representative of any government and not to engage in activities of public nature that are likely to affect Jusoor negatively, while receiving funding from Jusoor.

Funds Coverage
This scholarship will cover tuition fees, a laptop and a modest stipend to offset costs such as transportation.
How to Apply
You must apply to MUBS and to the scholarship separately.
To apply to the scholarship, kindly fill out this application by July 31st, 2024.
To apply to MUBS, kindly follow the instructions here and apply as soon as possible and before you apply to Jusoor.
You must upload the following documents with your Jusoor application, without any exception:
- Copy of official ID (passport or national ID card)
- Academic Transcripts from your most recent year of study
- Lebanese or Syrian Baccalaureate exam results
- One recommendation letter from a teacher or professor in Arabic or English
- One recommendation letter from a volunteer, school club or volunteer supervisor Arabic or English
- CV
- Acceptance letter from a university if you have already been accepted.
Incomplete applications WILL NOT be considered.

How many awards will be given?
Up to 4 awards will be given.
When will I be notified of my status?
Candidates will be notified of the final outcome of their scholarship application by early September 2024.
Should I already have an acceptance from MUBS before applying to the scholarship?
No, but you must apply to MUBS as soon as possible for admission.
What documents are required for submission of my Jusoor application?
The following documents are required; there will be no exceptions made and any incomplete applications will be disregarded:
- Copy of official ID (passport or national ID card)
- Academic Transcripts from your most recent year of study
- Lebanese or Syrian Baccalaureate exam results
- One recommendation letter from a teacher or professor in Arabic or English
- One recommendation letter from a volunteer, school club or volunteer supervisor Arabic or English

If awarded the scholarship, can the funding support my spouse and/or children?
Unfortunately not. The scholarship is intended to support only the scholar. Due to limited resources, Jusoor cannot provide any financial assistance for your family.
What do you look for in the ideal applicant?
We look for a balance of the following:
- Strong GPA and record of academic achievement
- Volunteer and/or work experience relevant to your field of study
- Proven leadership ability as demonstrated through volunteer and/or work experience
- Willingness and demonstrated intent to contribute to the redevelopment of Syria,
- Willingness to participate in Jusoor’s community.
- A clear and realistic plan for personal and career success post-graduation.
- A motivated, self-starter attitude
- Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate financial need.
How do I choose the right university and program of study for me?

What is the interview process like?
Interviews are conducted by 3-4 Jusoor and MUBS team members; questions that are asked revolve around themes such as academic and career goals, personal skills and intent to contribute to the redevelopment of Syria. Interviews usually last for about 30 minutes, are on zoom and in English.
