MIT Solve to Support AI Learning for Refugees

Our AI Learning Platform in collaboration with Lirvana Labs has been recognized as a global learning solution by MIT Solve
Jusoor’s Alexandra Chen and Lirvana Lab’s Christie Pang at MIT Solve Event in New York 2024

We are proud to share that, Yeti Confetti for Refugees, our project bringing AI learning to our Refugee Education Centers in Lebanon with Lirvana Labs, is one of six selected Solver teams in MIT Solve’s Global Learning Challenge

MIT Solve sought out cutting-edge technology-based solutions that address equity gaps in learning, especially for children affected by poverty and displacement. Our solution, already piloted in 2024, adapts Lirvana Labs’ innovative, award-winning AI-learning platform ‘Yeti Confetti’ to our young refugee learners' reality and educational goals in Lebanon. Our AI-powered Learning companion teaches English, Math, and Social-Emotional skills to out-of-school refugee children in Lebanon.

Before the current crisis in Lebanon, 45% of Syrian refugee children in Lebanon were either out of school or in informal education settings. With the current situation, we fear that these already alarming numbers will continue to rise, and an innovative intervention that provides educational opportunities for children remotely is needed now more than ever.

At the MIT Solve 2024 Launch Event in September, we were also awarded the GSR Foundation Prize which recognizes solutions that innovatively use technology to address pressing issues in their communities, which have the potential to scale globally.

As a Solver Team, Jusoor and Lirvana Labs will be participating in a nine-month support program, receiving access to funding in grants and investments, joining a powerful network of impact-minded leaders, receiving coaching and strategic advice from experts, and gaining exposure in the media, among many other benefits. We can’t wait to share our Solver journey with you, so stay tuned!
