Nour Albrzawi

Nour AlBrzawi has a Master's in Anthropology and Development at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Her research focuses on body politics, the poetics of relations, and refuge-making and “anti-politics machine(s)”. She conducted months of digital and in-person fieldwork on the conditions of Syrian refugees in Informal Tented Settlements across Beirut, Mount Lebanon, and the Bekaa Valley. As a result, she was a co-author with Dr. Tory Brykalski (Anthropologist, UCD) of a children’s book series named The Climate Change Dictionary for which she won The Arab Fund for Arts and Culture Creative Writing Grant and the Berlin University Alliance’s Virtual Stories project with Centre Marc Bloch and the Center for Anthropological Research on Museum and Heritage (CARMAH) of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Her previous education in Biology and English Literature and Linguistics contributed to her capacity to analyze structural violence and the problem of sectarianism in the Lebanese state formal education and to explore ways in pedagogy and alternative education in emergency settings.
